Get Your Head In The Game

September is ‘round the corner. Are you ready to get back to business?

I don’t know about you, but I still struggle with getting my head back in the game after the holidays – regardless of whether it’s a couple of weeks away at the cottage or over Christmas. As important as holidays are, not working the plan (and not having access to the internet 😊) can leave even the most determined of Founders in flux.

Since returning to work can be a bit of a shock to the system, I thought I’d share some tips to help you (and me) get back to business.

Catch Up With The Crew

Give yourself and your crew time to mentally readjust, to get back into the groove, and reconnect with colleagues. Schedule the time necessary to catch up with crew members, clients, and clear your inbox.

Dust Off The Plan

Re-engage your team in the big and small picture. My go-to fix has always been to review the 'strategic-six':

  • One: What are we building?

  • Two: By when?

  • Three: Having what impact?

  • Four: On whom?

  • Five: Through what services/products?

And lastly...

  • Six: What do "we" (each team member) need to accomplish in the next quarter to get us there?

That’s it! Six simple questions to help you rev up the motivation, determination, and drive.

Create The Carrot

There are only four months 'til we wrap up 2022. How do you plan to celebrate your year-end successes? How will you show your staff they’re valued and appreciated? How will you reward their loyalty and hard work?

Take some time in the next week or two to determine and budget (with your team or solo) what will motivate them to see it through to the end of the year.
